Best books for learning Portuguese? Have you redditors found any good books for learning Portuguese? I am particularly trying to find one that has good balance between grammar and vocabulary, as the online sources mainly focus on the vocabulary.
If the book has a CD for audio, the better. The book would be an additional source to Duolingo and possibly to Memrise just found it.
Also, if the book is in European Portuguese, that would be really useful. However, it isn’t that compulsory if the book would otherwise fill the requirements.
Sorry to sound picky but I really want to advance in my Portuguese. It’s one of their “newer” courses, and in my opinion it’s not as good thorough as their German or French courses most of the newer courses are a little watered downbut it’s still very useful.

I know that they have another course, Le Portugaiswhich apparently only focuses on European Portuguese. Also, Linguaphone publishes a Portuguese course which focuses on the European variety.
They’re also extremely expensive, but luckily they can be found online for free if the price tag is too much for you. Personally I think that if you can afford to spend the money on one of these courses, you absolutely should Assimil and Linguaphone are two of the few companies left that publish quality language learning materials, and they deserve our support.

Unfortunately, as a poor student, I don’t have enough money to invest hunders of dollars to one language course. I might check it at some point but for now I’d rather stick with the free mium online courses, and use one physical copy to provide me with a good basic understanding of the language.
Thank you anyway for your help.
And like I said, Linguaphone can be found online for free, it’s in English, it’s high quality and it focuses on European Portuguese. I do speak Finnish and little bit of Swedish but I find studying languages more easier in English for some reason haha.
Now that I have advanced further on the Portugese classes in Duolingo, I feel relatively confident in portugis it as my main program. I don’t like to expand the definition of free consumer products but let’s just say that if Brail get desperate enough, I might try Linguaphone for ‘free’. I use modern brazilian portugues grammar http: Also, get a workbook. It is not an easy book.
