For the first time, the two were demanding his presence at the same time. He’d failed to secure his ailing eighty-year-old Aunt into his home. All the traditional methods failed to produce the results he needed. Lynay’s four-year-old son had severe asthma. Fear strangled her each time he fell gasping to breathe. Her minimum wage job barely kept up with his escalating medications costs. Medicaid only went so far. Her baby needed more help than she could provide. Anne, her best friend suggested something unconventional, a contract marriage.
Anne’s brother’s deployment would take place in less than a week. Desperate, Tyson and Lynay agree to a marriage that would meet both of their pressing needs. Since Lynay hadn’t been sexually active since the birth of her son, she agreed. Everyone got what they wanted, right? Allison, Tyson’s ex-wife refused to accept not only their divorce of three years, but Tyson’s re-marriage as well. An uncommon path of destruction pummeled Tyson’s Achilles heel.
Seeds of deception were sown, and ultimately led to the breakup of their marriage. But to a woman scorned, the breakdown of the forced marriage was simply gravy. She intended to teach him a lesson. In her hatred, she forgot one thing. She messed with his family.
And nobody messed with his family, for long. Read more Read less.

Finally, after reading the numerous positive reviews for it, I finally broke down and bought the book. While the story wasn’t bad, it wasn’t good either. There were some illogical elements in my opinion in the story that prevented me from enjoying it.
Why would Tyson and Lynay need to have a sexual and reproductive relationship in order for their arrangement to be mutually beneficial? The aunt was quirky, but what was up with her speaking to spirits The ending with Tyson’s team going after his ex-wife and her new friends was so out of place, and over the top. There were good parts though. I liked Tyson’s character overall Alpha Male military type, which I love. And perhaps if the author had let the story work itself out organically around the basic premise of a contract relationship, and see how the characters could have fallen in love from there, the story would have worked better for me.
Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. From what I can tell this is Erosa Knowles’ first book, and in my opinion it was well written. One suggestion I do have before I say anything about the book itself is about the book description. I think that it could be shortened; it gives away information that could be just found out by the reader by reading the book. Major Tyson Bradford was a man of many women’s dreams.
He was good looking, he had a muscular build, he had a career militaryhe owned his own home, and he had his own money. Like I said what woman wouldn’t want him just on that alone? He was also a kind, and giving person, who was protective of those he loved. His only short-coming was that he was a little jaded when it came to the fidelity of women, because of his ex-wife Allison I won’t say too much more about her, you will just need to read the book.
Lynay is a great mom, she may hover a bit, but it’s understandable because her son does suffer from severe asthma. You can tell her son’s well-being comes first with her. Her problem is that she too is jaded about relationships, because of how badly her son’s father treated or should I say mistreated her. When these two meet to settle the arraignment that Tyson’s sister conveniently suggested would be the best option, sparks on a physical level fly.
Unfortunately, neither one wants to really do anything about it because of past relationships or do they? LOL The pace and the length of the book was good, and the storyline was great. The background information on Lynay and Tyson was just enough so you could understand why they were so cautious without going overboard. The mixture of the secondary characters helped add to the story and made the story much more interesting.
I was expecting a lot drama and vengefulness because of the ex-wife, as indicated on the back cover, but I wasn’t expecting the type that did unfold, especially the parts between Lynay and Tyson. I do think the way the ending part with the ex-wife Allison played out could have been handled a little differently, but then again maybe not read it for yourself, and see what you think.
There was also just the right amount of passion between Lynay and Tyson. I definitely look forward to more from Erosa Knowles!! One person found this helpful. While the characters are enjoyable, the story leaves much to be desired.
The premise was intriguing to me and why I purchased it – Alpha Male military type, Tyson, comes to the aid of Lynay, a strong AA woman doing what she needs to do for her child including getting married to a virtual stranger to secure a better future for him [her son].
The arranged marriage part did not bother me. The author created enough anst, discussion and plausibility that made it totally believable for Lynay and Tyson to get married so quickly. Things went off the rails for me with the rushed loved story. I get that they had an immediate strong attraction to each other, but when did they have time for the real affection to grow?
I would have appreciated much more of a peak into the small romantic moments I assume occured via phone, email, skping while he was overseas. All of a sudden the couple is “in love” but in my opinion we didn’t really get to go along for the ride. Also, the end was so out of place – like the author was trying to do too much.
Again the characters are great! Lynay is a strong female lead – vulnerable, determined and loyal.
I love how she laid down the law when Tyson got beside himself at one point. Tyson is also very likeable – take charge, protective, passionate. Unfortunately, I still can’t wholeheartedly recommend this novel.
